I see your headgasket job has worked its way to the other side of the engine.

Someone stuck a 2x4 into your engine!

that oil is much too fresh to lubricate the engine.

How did your head gasket and timing chain replacement reach the point where you have the oil pan off the engine?

No no no, 2x4s are used as engine mounts, not crankshaft shims. Fire your mechanic.

That wood do it.

2x4 was installed as a shim to cure the notorious crank walk.

Clever! Just make sure you sufficiently torque the crank bolt, or it will come loose.

Don’t think he’s replacing the chain. But the oil pan has to come off to remove the timing cover. No way around it. He posted about it a few days ago.

Looks about right! Oil pump give you any trouble?

Need a piece of electrical conduit. My 540i crank bolt was 180 +30deg+30deg+60deg, idk why they don’t just say 120deg. But it wasnt bad with a 6ft piece of 1-1/2 emt on the wrench. Breaking it loose was much worse.

We went with a spare 10 ft fence post.

No? Should it have? O_O;;

Lol not necessarily! Sometimes it’s hard getting it lined up with the key.

Oh ok! Haha yes that was a bit tricky. Followed the internet’s suggestion to align everything with the key/ keyway pointed up and that worked fine.
